A yearly celebration of a local town fair crosses with several traditional dances, those include "la caxuxa", "Cortez" and "El Palo Volador" (Flying tree) in Cubulco, 200km north of Guatemala City, in the department of Baja Verapaz. This dance has a history dating back to the XVIII century, when one of the local "butlers" dreamt of Apostle St. James telling him to execute this kind of dance. The performance of the dance takes place mid July and a tree is cut every two years.

Similar dances can be seen in Joyabaj (August), Chichicastenango (December).
